- The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 with Advanced Medical Optics. This is a Request for Quotation. The VA intends to award a firm fixed-price contract for the supplies. These supplies are needed for the Sovereign AE System (#24686) equipment on site used for cataract surgery. It is the belief of the Government that there is currently only one responsible source capable of providing the supplies to satisfy the agency requirements. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2001-09. Only one responsible source and no other supplies will satisfy the agency requirements. A justification for other than full and open competition is being prepared in support of this acquisition. This procurement is to obtain five each headpieces (Part No. SOV680290) and three each Cautery Cable (Part No. K106075) that are only available from Advanced Medical Optics. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Applicable NAICS code 339112.
