Description
NA U.S. Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division intends to competitively acquire a 8 foot by 8 foot by 20 foot insulated International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Multi-Temperature Refrigerated Container System (MTRCS). The MTRCS will provide the capability for efficient distribution and storage of both perishable and semi-perishable subsistence on a single platform across the battlefield. It will be capable of storing and transporting temperature sensitive products in a PLS and HEMTT LHS compatible ISO container while simultaneously maintaining proper freezer/refrigerated temperature ranges in each zone. The MTRCS will utilize a combination engine driven/electric driven refrigeration unit to properly condition the conta iner and an internal moveable partition to separate refrigerated and frozen product zones. The MTRCS will be required to operate on the move and be transported by all modes of military transportation to include land, sea and air. There will be no Governm ent Furnished Equipment. The estimated total quantity of systems to be produced over the life of the ten-year contract is 614 units. The intent of this contract is to conduct a multiple phase effort to design, build, test, and manufacture the MTRCS, whic h will be incrementally funded based on the completion and Government approval/acceptance of each phase and available funding. The Government intends to award of a ten-year Firm-Fixed-Price Requirements contract. A two-year base research and development period followed by four two-year optional ordering periods for full rate production is planned. Acquisition will be on a full and open competitive basis utilizing best value source selection procedures. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification ( SIC) Code is 3585/North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 333415. The solicitation and applicable technical documentation will be posted on the Acquisition Center?s web site, https://www3.natick.army.mil, on or about Jan 15, 2003. N OTE: This acquisition was previously announced under solicitation number DAAD16-01-R-0026 in August 2001.
