Description

The United States Coast Guard, Civil Engineering Unit Juneau, Alaska is conducting a market survey to determine if commercial sources are available and capable to inspect and provide maintenance on the four 700-foot towers of the Tok sectionalized LORAN-C transmitting (SLT) antenna system located at the U.S. Coast Guard Loran Station, Tok, Alaska. The SLT antenna consists of four identical cable panels supported by the towers. The backstays and towers are insulated from the cable panels. Each galvanized steel tower has a 7-foot face width and is supported by three lanes of nine insulated guys. The scope of services require inspection of the Towers and Tower Bases, Guys, Backstays, and Antenna Panels, Guy Anchors, and Strobe Lighting System. Incidental services would include adjustment of guy tensions and alignment of towers, strobe lighting system maintenance, installation of new dead-end guy grips where required to ensure each guy wire has the ability to be adjusted, the completion of 50 powdered metal exothermic weld repairs to the copper wire ground plane, and the preparation of a tower inspection report. The required completion date for this project would be on or before October 1, 2003. Specific Survey Information Desired: a) Name and addresses (including phone numbers and Point of Contacts (POC s) of firms interested in and capable of providing these requirements; b) Catalog and other company literature; c) Any contractor restrictions in meeting the requirement. For example indicate if your operations are limited to certain geographical areas; c) Indicate if your firm is a Small or Large Business, HUBZone and/or 8(a). All responses should be submitted by January 7, 2003 to the Contracting Officer, USCG CEU Juneau, P.O. Box 21747, Juneau, AK 99802-1747. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued for the sole purpose of obtaining information from prospective offerors. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. No solicitation will be issued at this time.
