Description
NSN: 7240-00-139-7521 WASTE RECEPTACLE, PLASTIC, (WITH LID): The waste receptacle shall be in accordance with NSF Standard 21 and shall have the following characteristics; Capacity - 44 gallons Overall height - 32.25 inches nominal Overall diameter - 23.75 inches nominal Color - Gray with gray or black lid Construction: (a) Molded one piece and watertight (b) Interior and exterior surfaces shall allow for easy cleaning (c) Two diametrically positioned handles located near top edge (d) Lids shall have a handle for easy removal and a means for locking the lid securely to the receptacle Unit of issue ? EA (each). EXCEPTION TO NSF 21 STANDARD: 1) Paragraph 4.2.2.1, delete reference to -29? C ? 0.5? C (-20? F ? 1? F) for a minimum of 24 hours conditioning prior to test. The manufacturer has the latitude to test in accordance with normal commercial conditional practices. WORKMANSHIP: Shall be free from seams, flash, blisters, cracks, chips, sharp fins, sharp edges, lumps, imbedded foreign material, and any sign of corrosion on metal handles. Product Conformance: The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this purchase description, conform to the producer?s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: The waste receptacle(s) and lid(s) shall be packaged and packed in accordance with the latest revision of ASTM D 3951, Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging. Copies of ASTM standards are available from the American Society for Testing and Materials, 100 Barr Harbor Drive, West Conshohocken, PA 19428-2959. Shipments to the Department of Defense (DOD) shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. NOTE: Palletization is not required due to excessive size of boxes. However, in the event a pallet is used for shipping the item(s), the following notice shall apply; NOTICE: All lumber used inside or outside a shipment shall be BARK FREE. UNITIZATION OF PALLET LOAD: The palletized load shall be unitized and secured to the pallet to insure that the load arrives intact. NOTICE OF SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SHIPMENT TO EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES: Per Clause D-FSS-468, non-manufactured wood pallets and other non-manufactured wood package material used in shipments destined for ultimate delivery to or through a European Union (EU) country shall comply with the Emergency Measures (2001/219/EC) adopted by the Commission of the European Communities (CEC). Additionally, shipments delivered to DoD distribution facilities or freight consolidation points for eventual delivery to or through EU countries shall comply with DLA PROCLTR 01-15.
