Description
Automotive Trade Classroom Rehab Scope of Work Purpose: To provide demolition to the interior of the existing classroom, vocational shop and exterior vocational shop area and rehabilitate the area into a suitable training site for an automotive repair trade. Remove all existing carpentry hardware from the building and then remove from the site. Refinish interior walls by adding new sheetrock where needed, texturing and painting the walls white. Remove and replace existing classroom floor tile. Trim out and finish doorway entrance to shop area. Remove all storage lockers from the passageway between classroom and shop area. Flammable storage cabinet will be relocated to the outside workshop area. Remove and replace existing windows with double pane-insulated windows. Frame in and repair walls to fit new windows. The exterior finish will be stucco. The interior finish will be textured sheetrock. Remove existing tile floor, seal and paint with approved automotive floor paint. Build 3 mock-up work units along west wall. The units will have a workbench running the length of the west wall of the mock-up. Electrical receptacles and air receptacles will be stubbed to the workbenches. The mock-up walls shall be constructed of metals studs, covered in 5/8 inch sheetrock and then covered with a washable wallboard. Construct a room on the south side of the building to house individual lockers for students to change into trade uniforms. Complete the suspended ceiling to the south wall of the building. Build a fire rated wall from the top of the south wall to the ceiling in accordance with code requirements. Build a workbench along the east wall approximately 30 feet long. Remove and replace the east window to match the three west windows. Build a tool and parts wash stall along the east wall next to the overhead door. Remove the wooden loading dock at the east roll up door and pour a concrete pad with steps off the south side into the work bays. Enclose the concrete pad with walls on two sides and place a window in the east wall looking into the exterior of the service bays. Erect a wall the length of the East/West area and fully enclose the wall to the ceiling. The wall should be fire rated with a metal siding exterior. Install two overhead doors into the service bay area through this wall. The overhead doors should be 12 feet in width. Build two service bay areas with workbenches along the south and east wall. The benches will have electrical and air receptacles. Provide electrical conduit and wiring in the ceiling of the service bay with stub connectors to expand the service for retractable electrical outlets. Airlines should also be provided in the service bay ceiling to allow for retractable air outlets. A gas operated heating unit shall be installed in the southeast corner of the service bay area, suspended from the ceiling adequate in size to heat the desired square footage of the service bay area. Establish electrical and piping in the compressor room located at the east end of the service bay area. This room should also contain appropriate ventilation to the exterior. Fully enclose all walls to the roof and insulate as appropriate. The concrete slab work areas should be painted and sealed with approved automotive floor paint. An eyewash station shall be plumbed and located on the northeast exterior corner of the instructor?s office. The office walls shall be extended to the floor to completely enclose them. All walls to include classroom, mock-up room, tool room, and service bay area shall be painted and trimmed throughout. The mechanical room of the HBI building shall have a fire rated protection wall dividing the electrical panels from the boiler system. A walk through door shall also be erected to allow for passage from one side of the room to the other. The exterior fence gate to the area shall be widened to allow vehicles to enter and exit the area as required. A decorative iron gate with locking device must be assemble and installed in the opening. Concrete work shall be performed as necessary to level the concrete floor throughout the service bay and exterior driveway into the service bay area. There must also be a suitable driveway entrance to the shop area outside the service bay gate. Davis/Bacon shall apply and a certified payroll will be required. Contractors can walk through the facilities on January 15, 2003 at 10:00. Work needs to begin on February 3, 2003.
