Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source purchase order with Sunil Agrawal for Cable-based Robotics support. Dr. Agrawal will implement a prototype cable-based system to evaluate metrics and produce report finds. The main areas of technical focus will be Metrics & Study of dynamics and control of Cable Transporter Systems and Coordination & Control of Groups of Unmanned Ground and Air Vehicles. Dr. Agrawal has expertise in regards to taking into account the dynamic characteristics of the vehicles for which trajectories are being planned. Dr. Agrawal is also familiar with the NIST 4D/RCS-based approach for developing controllers for autonomous vehicles and plans to integrate his algorithms within NIST?s framework. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order on or about January 15, 2003. The proposed requirement is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106(b). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, the government will consider all capability statements received by January 10, 2003. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available.
