Description
THE PURPOSE OF THIS MODIFICATION IS TO POST THE ANSWERS TO THE FOLLOWING FIVE QUESTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN ASKED BY VARIOUS VENDORS. 1. How accessible is the transformer, are there any obstacles a crane needs to be concerned with when trying to move the unit? ANSWER. No overhead obstacles. A 6-foot high fence surrounds transformer. It is 20 feet from fence to center of transformer. 2. Can you supply overall dimensions and dimensions with the bushings removed so handling and shipping can be decided? ANSWER. Overall Height is 134 inches xWidth 140 inches Length 165inches. HV bushing is 21 inches tall. Arresters are 24 inches, LV bushing is 14 inches. 3. Is previous test result available on the transformer? ANSWER. No, transformer is only about 5 years old. 4. Is information available about what going on before and during the failure? ANSWER. HV bushing was discolored, so it was decided to change it, we pumped down the oil and went and changed the bushing, then pumped the oil back in. When we reenergized the transformer, it failed. Upon inspection it appeared that the no-load tap changer may have been accidentally bumped because that is where it looks like it started arching and copper from that may have shorted the HV windings to LV windings. 5. What is the weight of the transformer? ANSWER. The approximate weight of the transformer is as follows: Core and Coils 22,500 lbs, Tanks and fittings 18,400 lbs, Type II Mineral Oil; Main Tank (2,190 gallons) 16,000 lbs, LTC Tank (150 gallons) 1,100 lbs. Total weight with oil is 58,000 lbs.
