- Description
- NAICS Code: 541519 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Office of Radiation and Indoor Environments (ORIE) intends to award a sole source Purchase Order to Canberra Industries, of Meriden, Connecticut. The purpose of this purchase is to acquire an integrated alpha spectrometry system to extend the capabilities of EPA's existing 16-detector alpha spectrometry system by adding 4 to 8 high-efficiency, large diameter detectors. Purchase of the proposed system has the advantage of preserving investment in customized software routines for processing alpha spectrometry data and also permits full use of the most modern features of existing Canberra software. When fully developed, the new Canberra systems will also provide a seamless backup capability between the current fixed-laboratory system and the field-portable system under development. Canberra Industries is the only firm that can supply this need in order to maintain software and hardware compatibility with EPA's Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC)-based Canberra system that is presently used. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541519. This notice is not a request for proposal nor a solicitation for offers. However, any firm who believes it is capable of meeting the EPA's requirements stated herein may submit a response, which if received within 15 calendar days of the date of this announcement, will be considered. Interested firms shall provide detailed information outlining their capabilities--any response failing to provide the aforementioned data will be disregarded. Responses to this posting must be in writing. A determination not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. All questions should be directed to Su Chang at (202) 564-6090 or e-mail at (chang.su@epa.gov).
