Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences intends to award a sole source purchase order to Lynx Therapeutics, Inc., Hayward, CA 94545, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for the purchase of 1) Generation of Megaclone Library and 2) Massively Parallel Signature Sequencing (MPSS) of 1 million signature tags. NIEHS will submit two (2) samples to Lynx Therapeutics. The work to be conducted is based on Lynx Therapeutics unique and proprietary cloning procedure called Megaclone. This patented technology transforms a sample containing millions of DNA molecules into one made up of millions of micro-beads, each of which carries approx. 100,000 copies of one of the DNA molecules in the sample. In contrast to conventional cloning, in which an individual DNA molecule is selected from a sample and amplified into many copies for analysis or identification, Lynx Therapeutics captures on one set of micro-beads, clones of nearly all the DNA sequences that characterize a sample. Once the DNA is attached to the micro-beads, the clones can be handled and subjected to MPSS which generates simultaneously, from a million or more Megaclone micro-beads, sequence information that uniquely identifies a sample's DNA molecules. This patented, proprietary technology enables many analyses or characterizations to be conducted. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 15 days of date of notice to Dee Lunney at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Lynx Therapeutics, Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 541690/$6.0M.. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. There is no solicitation package available. For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Dee Lunney via email lunney@niehs.nih.gov.*****
