Description
The Department of Commerce, NOAA, Eastern Administrative Support Center is soliciting quotes for 72 acoustic release pop-up bouys and one acoustic command unit that meet the following specifications: (1) The acoustic release must have accessible attachment points; (2) Each buoy/acoustic unit must have a unique acoustic release signal that is detectable by the release at depths of up to 100 meters and a distance of a minimum of 750m in the coastal ocean; (3) The acoustic command unit must be ble to send up to 20 command signals on a single battery charge or be rapidly rechargeable on board ship; (4) Buoyancy of the buoy must be greater than 10 but less than 15 pounds; (5) The buoy tether line must be integrated into the buoy and release in such a way that it cannot tangle when deployed; (6) The length of the buoy tether line must approximately be at least 40 meters but no more than 75 meters; (7) The tether line must be easily and quickly repacked on board ship for rapid redeployment; (8) The minimum breaking strength of the buoy line must be 2000 pounds so that it can effectively lift a 400 poound mooring in rouch seas; (9) The release signal must NOT be in the range of 65 to 75 kHz; (10) The battery life of the acoustic release mechanism must be a minimum of eight months; and (11) If batteries become depleted after four releases in a 13 month period, they must be easily and quickly replaceable on board ship.
