- Description
- Note the new response date of January 24, 2003 for the following Sources Sought: The United States Marine Corps HIMARS Program Office, Quantico, VA is seeking potential sources to provide a non-developmental submunition fuze for use on the M77 submunition. The fuze is to be a replacement for the M223 fuze presently used and must fit in the same physical envelope when attached to the M77 grenade. The submunition fuze should have at least two (2) separate safety features that operate in a non-spinning ballistic environment, and are suitable for deployment in the US Navy maritime environment. The fuze must not arm if submunitions are accidentally disbursed on ship. The fuze must also have either a 99% minimum reliability rate or a self-destruct feature. 100 non-loaded metal parts sets and related assembly drawings will be requested from interested sources that have a fuze fulfilling the above-stated requirements. The non-loaded metal parts will be requested at no cost to the Government. The product samples will be loaded by the US Navy and assessed to ensure that the design meets US Navy minimum requirements. Proprietary data must be marked as such on a page-by-page basis and will be kept confidential and protected where so designated. Evaluation of the product samples will take approximately six (6) months and will be performed in Federal Government Fiscal Year 2004 (FY 04). Product samples will be destroyed during the evaluation. This announcement is not a request for proposal nor does the US Navy or US Marine Corps intend to pay for any information or items submitted in response to this synopsis. It is anticipated that a solicitation for a firm fixed price contract with a base quantity of 753,864 units will be issued in FY 07. Additional quantities of 351,480 and 278,760 units are anticipated in FY08 and FY09, respectively. Suppliers capable of furnishing these items should respond in writing no later than 24 Jan 2003 and include in the submission a fuze assembly drawing with dimensions. Submit responses to COMMANDING GENERAL, ATTN USMC HIMARS PROGRAM OFFICE (POWERS), MARCORSYSCOM, 2033 BARNETT AVE SUITE 315, QUANTICO VA 22134-5010.
