Description

NA TACOM is seeking contractor testing of an existing contractor-furnished high-speed marine ferry vessel with the following nominal characteristics: (a) mono-hull; (b) waterjet propelled; (c) gas turbine, or gas turbine/diesel powered; (d) deadweight capacity at least 700 tons; (e) 40 knot loaded speed. The planned award is not a purchase contract: the ferry vessel will remain contractor property. A single short-term contract will be awarded for use of the vessel for testing plus all related test and logistic support (fuel, port facilities, etc). Testin g will be witnessed by US government representatives, and will result in a contractor test report and related data and technical documentation. Instrumented tests are required to measure power requirements in calm and rough water. Calm water tests shall be performed in both shallow and deep water; and shall include one displacement. Rough water testing, seas permitting, will include one displacement in two sea states. Deep water testing will include two displacements and will include the effect of trim- control devices. Solicitation expected to be released approximately first week in Feb 2003.
