Description
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development requires a Contractor(s) for the successful conduct of a prospective pregnancy study focusing on the role of environmental chemicals and lifestyle factors and successful human reproduction. This study is titled "Determinants of Male and Female Fecundity and Fertility - Research Sites." The scope of the work is to conduct a prospective pregnancy study enrolling couples interested in becoming pregnant and following them for a minimum of 12 months or until delivery for couples becoming pregnant. Specifically, this research seeks to include in the sample eligible couples from medically underserved areas, minority subgroups or geographic areas with documented environmental exposure to hormonally active agents (e.g., organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls). The Contractor(s) shall: 1) recruit, retain and follow couples wishing to become pregnant for up to 12 at risk menstrual cycles and throughout pregnancy for couples successfully becoming pregnant; 2) collect baseline and prospective data on relevant study exposures and covariates from various sources (i.e., questionnaires, diaries) and submit such information to the designated statistics & data coordinating center; 3) collect biospecimens (i.e., blood, saliva and semen) from study participants and forward to the appropriate laboratories for processing; 4) instruct couples in the use of home fertility monitors and pregnancy kits; and 5) ensure the protection of human subjects. The Request for Proposals, RFP-NIH-NICHD-2003-12 will be available on or about January 30, 2003. All responsible offerors are encouraged to submit a proposal. This requirement is defined as code 541710 under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).
