Description
NSN: 4520-00-540-2038 HEATER, SPACE, ELECTRIC, (PORTABLE): The electric space heater is intended primarily for heating rooms with an available 240 volt outlet and shall conform to Underwriters Laboratories Inc. Standard UL 1278, Movable and Wall or Ceiling-Hung Electric Room Heaters, Standard for Safety; and shall have the following characteristics; 1) Upright, Convection, Fan Forced, 240 volts. 2) Single wattage: 3000 or 4000 watts at the manufacturers option. 3) The plug and cord shall be rated for 20 amps. 4) The heater shall be furnished with a suitable carrying handle. 5) Height (excluding handle) shall be 11.0 inches minimum and 23.0 inches maximum. Width shall be 14 inches minimum and 22-1/2 inches maximum. Depth shall be 5 inches minimum and 13 inches maximum. 6) Heater enclosures shall be constructed of metal, plastic is not permitted. 7) The heater shall have a 3-prong plug in accordance with NEMA WD-1 and WD-6 (NEMA configuration 6-20P). 8) The heater shall have an automatic adjustable thermostat with a range of 45 degrees to 120 degrees F or greater, with a ?positive off? feature. If a ?positive off? thermostat is not used, the heater shall have a separate ?positive off? switch. The heater does not have a tip-over switch. Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this purchase description, conform to the producer?s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. UL 1278 Conformance. Acceptable evidence of compliance with the requirements of UL 1278 shall be a UL Label or Listing Mark, or a certified test report from an independent testing laboratory acceptable to the Government, indicating the space heater has passed all tests, may be acceptable as evidence of conformance to the requirements of UL 1278. The test reports shall be less than 2 years old. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: The space heater(s) shall be packaged and packed in accordance with the latest revision of ASTM D 3951, Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging. Shipments to the Department of Defense (DOD) shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. PALLETIZATION: The shipping containers shall be palletized. The pallets shall be 48-inch length x 40-inch width, general purpose, four-way entry, flush stringer, double face non-reversible pallets. The palletized load shall not exceed 2500 pounds in weight. The palletized load shall not overhang the pallet and shall not exceed 53 inches in overall height. Less than half pallet loads or loads shipped by small package carrier need not be palletized. NOTICE: All lumber used inside or outside a shipment shall be BARK FREE. UNITIZATION OF PALLET LOAD: The palletized load shall be unitized and secured to the pallet to insure that the load arrives intact. NOTICE OF SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SHIPMENT TO EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES: Per Clause D-FSS-468, non-manufactured wood pallets and other non-manufactured wood package material used in shipments destined for ultimate delivery to or through a European Union (EU) country shall comply with the Emergency Measures (2001/219/EC) adopted by the Commission of the European Communities (CEC). Additionally, shipments delivered to DoD distribution facilities or freight consolidation points for eventual delivery to or through EU countries shall comply with DLA PROCLTR 01-15.
