Description

The USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS), Animal Import Center Miami Springs, FL intends to procure 2 sizes of Isolettes to quarantine imported birds for 30 or more days for screening against foreign bird diseases. Types of birds include personal pets such as those in the parrot family and other species like canaries, finches, toucans, mynahs and others that are either owned pets or smuggled into this country. Isolette materials and hardware must be able to withstand the destructiveness of strong hard-billed birds such as large parrots and macaws. Each isolette must provide secure bio-containment against disease organisms down to the level of viruses, yet allow for servicing of feeding and watering devices on a daily basis and for cleaning of waste (feed and droppings) whenever necessary. Delivery shall be FOB Destination Miami, FL arriving by March 31, 2003. NAICS code 332999. This is a firm fixed price contract. Simplified procurement procedures will be used as well as commercial item acquisition regulations per FAR12. THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED.
