- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.501(a), with Coherent Laser Group of Santa Clara, CA, for two (2) each single frequency lasers, Coherent 10 Watt Verdi Laser, Part #V10, suitable for optical lattice research.***The single frequency lasers require all of the following specifications: (1) Output powers of 10W or greater at 532 nm in continuous wave operation; (2) Low noise intensity specification, less than 0.05% rms intensity noise measured from 10 Hz to 1 GHz; (3) Must operate in a single (TEMOO) transverse mode with an M^2<1.1; (4) Must operate on a single longitudinal mode, with a linewidth of <5 MHz measured over a 50 ms time interval.***Sole source determination is based on the Coherent Laser Group being the only known source who can provide a laser that can meet ALL of the above required specifications.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by February 5, 2003, will be considered by the Government.***A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
