- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE: Department of the Air Force, Air Force Material Command, Electronic Systems Center, Directorate of Contracting, 490 East Moore Dr., Suite 270, MAFB-Gunter Annex, AL 36114-3000 This is a notice of intent to Award Sole Source to Sun Microsystems, the original manufacturer and developer of Java software. This proposed acquisition is to establish a Java Center of Excellence (JCOE) with architecture, engineering and integration support in the area of Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) development. Justification: Supplies or services required are available from only one or a limited number of responsible sources under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. Duration: Period of performance will be for one year from the date of the contract award. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all proposals received within 10 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
