Description
The United States Postal Service intends to award a Fixed Price Contract with limited unit pricing to provide necessary demolition, repair and or replacement of identified areas and items associated with approximately 198,000 square foot of an existing concrete plenum ceiling located under the existing Old Chicago Main Post Office in Chicago, IL. The total period of performance for this project will be 415 days from notice to proceed and the construction estimate ranges from $10,500,000 to $11,500,000 A detailed scope of work for repair or replacement of this plenum ceiling is included in the solicitation documents. This request for proposal is being issued only to prequalified contractors. The work includes but is not limited to the following: selective demolition, repair and or replacement of areas of the concrete plenum ceiling, smoke flues, structural support hangers, other associated work. Previously, the following the firms were prequalified and are the ONLY ones invited to submit proposals for this solicitation: Kenny Construction Co. & Superior Gunite Co., 250 Northgate Parkway, Wheeling, IL 60090-2684, Attention: Patrick Kenny, Email-pkenny@kennyconstruction.com, telephone @ 847-541-8200 and facsimile @ 847-541-8358; Kiewit Western Co., 2200 Point Blvd. Suite 100, Elgin, IL 60123, Attention: Harry Koenigs, Email - Harry.Koenigs@UG.Kiewwit.com, telephone @ 847-426-7495 and facsimile @ 847-426-7862; Walsh Construction, 929 West Adams Street, Chicago, IL 60607, Attention Patrick Donley, Email - pdonley@walshgroup.com, telephone @ 312-563-5400 and facsimile @ 312-563-5420. A Pre-proposal Conference has been scheduled for 10:00AM on Tuesday February 11, 2003 in room 107A at Chicago's Union Station, Chicago, IL. Following the meeting, a walk-through of the area to be rehabilited will be provided. It is strongly advised that all of the Prequalified Firms, their potential subcontractors and all key supervisory personnel participate in these events. Contract award is contingent upon Postal Service Board of Governors approval of funding. Prior to award, the successful offeror must submit for approval their: Subcontracting Plan and their site specific Safety Plan. The subcontracting plan must be in accordance with the Small and Minority Business Enterprise Subcontracting requirements (Clause 3-2). Goals for this project are Minority Business Enterprise 20%, Women Business Enterprise 10% and Small Business Enterprise 5%. The Postal Service will select the offeror that provides the overall Best Value to the Postal Service, taking into consideration technical and cost related factors. While the above listed three firms have already been furnished a Solicitation Package, others, i.e. subcontractors, material, equipment suppliers and other interested parties can purchase copies of the Solicitation. All technical questions concerning this Solicitation must be sent through any one of the three prequalified firms. Solicitation packages are due by 3:00 PM EST, Friday, February 28, 2003 and should be mailed, using one of the services offered by the Postal Service, to Mr. Miller, Supply Management Facilities Portfolio, 4301 Wilson Blvd., Suite 300, Arlington, VA 22203-1840.
