- Description
- Motor Vehicle Towing - Emergency/Beakdown and Shuttle Service. The U. s. Postal Service is exploring the possibility of obtaining towing/shuttle service through a single point of contact (similar to AAA). Shuttle service requries towing of multiple vehicles. The USPS has a fleet of approximately 208,000 vehicles. Long Life Vehicles (LLV) comprise about 174,000 vehicles. Most are right hand drive. The LLV is serviced at least twice per year. Once a year the vehicle is shuttled from the field office to the Vehicle Maintenance Facility. One way tows can be 250 miles. Contractor's capable of providing this type service on a national basis are encouraged to submit their name, address to this office. A meeting to discuss ways and means may be held at some future date.
