- Description
- The requirement is for the purchase of a Triple Point of Water Maintenance System. The Air Force requirements for this item will consist of an apparatus and Triple Point of Water Cell that will allow the PMELS to create and maintain the Triple Point of Water (TPW) for temperature calibrations for a period of time very efficiently and accurately. This method would require only minimal operator time and no external mediums or solutions to initiate the freeze. The TPW is one of the primary temperature reference points on the new Temperature Scale, ITS-90. This item will be used to verify the lab?s Primary Temperature Reference Standard, the SPRT (Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer) before and after each use. The TPW measurement is important since it is the reference point from which all further temperature calibrations are compared with. Used in this way, the TPW can verify if the SPRT has drifted due to time, handling, or shipment. Also, the TPW Maintenance System can be used in other temperature calibrations that previously required the calibration technician to make an ice bath using distilled ice/water and an insulated Dewar. The complete requirements are described in the AFMETCAL purchase description. The purchase description will be a part of the solicitation package. This will be a commercial solicitation utilizing simplified acquisition procedures under FAR Part 12 and 13. A product sample unit and technical proposal will be required with the solicitation response. The basic quantity is for 20 each with extended five year warranty and data in accordance with DD Form 1423s. There is a FY 04 option for an additional quantity range of 1-20 units with warranty and data, and a FY 05 option for an additional quantity range of 1-50 units with warranty and data. Delivery shall be FOB destination to AFMETCAL Det 1, Heath OH 43056-6116. The solicitation is anticipated to be issued on 30 Jan 03 with a closing date of 19 Feb 03.
