Description
Air Force Research Laboratory, Propulsion Directorate (AFRL/PR) solicits research proposals for the ?Application of Advanced Laser Diagnostics to High Impact Technologies. The objectives of this program are to: (1) develop advanced laser diagnostic techniques and computer models needed to investigate processes occurring in advanced propulsion and fuel systems and (2) apply these tools to the development, evaluation, and demonstration of high impact technology concepts that may lead to the validation of affordable, high-performance, low-emissions engines for air and aerospace propulsion and power systems. The research effort shall be conducted on-site in Propulsion Directorate laboratory facilities located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It shall take advantage of the unique facilities and laser diagnostic instrumentation developed on past Air Force programs. Laser diagnostic and modeling tools shall be developed and applied to the fundamental study of advanced propulsion systems identified by the contractor and the Air Force. The fundamental knowledge gained from these studies shall be used to evolve system and component design rules and to demonstrate the feasibility of high impact technologies for current, next generation and beyond advanced propulsion systems. The on-site contractor shall interact directly with the Air Force, universities, and gas turbine engine companies in demonstrating high impact technologies that can lead to advanced Air Force air and aerospace propulsion systems. This interaction provides the means of directly transitioning the results obtained on this program to the companies that are developing and demonstrating Air Force weapon systems. It is anticipated that the results of this contract shall directly contribute to future technology programs such as Versatile, Affordable, Advanced Turbine Engines (VAATE) and the National Aerospace Initiative (NAI). Interested offerors may view and/or download the full PRDA solicitation by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOps) homepage at http://www.eps.gov/. Direct questions to the Contracting point of contact identified in the announcement.
