Description

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission intends to award a sole source contract with Oregon State University (OSU) for a two-year period with 3 one-year options. Using OSU's existing Advanced Plant Experiment (APEX) test facility,11 tests will be performed during the base period which will cover both design-basis and beyond-design-basis accident scenarios in AP1000 reactor. Additional tests may be performed during the option years in the areas such as entrainment and de-entrainment, non-condensible gas transport, and steam general heat transfer. The APEX facility is unique and well instrumented and suited for conducting a series of design-basis and beyond-design-basis accident tests. Using the OSU facility provides the benefit of an already designed and built facility. The facility is owned by OSU and the equipment in the facility is owned by the Department of Energy. Requests for copies of the solicitation will not be honored unless the respondent provides evidents showing their capability to perform the required services. See Note 22.****
