- Description
- Responses to this notice are solicited to identify qualified small business sources that have the interest and ability to provide pathology services as described herein. The NAICS Code is 541710, with a size standard of 500 employees. The contractor must maintain an office within the Washington, D.C. geographical area. This is not a request for a formal proposal. The Division of General Scientific Support, Office of Scientific Analysis and Support, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition of the Food and Drug Administration (hereafter referred to as DGSS) is seeking small business contractors with the technical capabilities to provide pathology support services to evaluate materials derived from toxicological experimental studies. The contractor would be expected to produce histopathologic preparations for examination, microscopically examine them and prepare comprehensive pathology reports of the pathologic findings. The contractor would also be expected to provide services to the DGSS in specialized areas as requested, to include gross necropsy of animals (mostly rodents), consultative services for diagnostic electron microscopy as it relates to toxicologic pathology, and the services of an on-site biologist to help in the pathology laboratory when needed. In addition, the contractor should be expected to provide the facilities and expertise to house and maintain the Pathology Archives that will include wet tissues, paraffin blocks, slides and data files. The facility will have to be in complete compliance with the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) requirements. Responses should reference number 223-03-2480 and include (1) name and address of firm, (2) size and type of business (i.e.: small, 8(a), women-owned, veteran owned, hub-zone), (3) point of contact with phone number, (4) capability statement summarizing experience and knowledge relative to this work, and (5) references for previous related work including a contact person and phone number. FDA anticipates awarding an indefinite delivery contract for a base year and 4 option years. Responses should be submitted via e-mail to Ksmith1@oc.fda.gov by February 14, 2003. THIS SYNOPSIS IS FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AND ANY FOLLOW-UP INFORMATIONAL REQUESTS. RESPONDENTS WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED OF THE RESULTS OF THE EVALUATION. RESPONDENTS DEEMED QUALIFIED WILL BE CONSIDERED IN ANY RESULTING SOLICITATION FOR THE REQUIREMENT. ALL INFORMATION SUBMITTED IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT MUST ARRIVE ON OR BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE. THE CLOSING DATE FOR RESPONSES IS FEBRUARY 14, 2003.
