Description

NA In support of the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center and the Program Manager Individual Clothing and Equipment, United States Marine Corps Systems Command, the U.S. Robert Morris Acquisition Center (RMAC), Natick Contracting Division (NCD), has a requ irement for Improved Body Armor materials and systems. The NCD plans to award an 18 to 24-month research and development commercial purchase order utilizing simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13.5 for the investigation of enhanc ed Blunt Trauma protection materials and test methods for reducing and evaluating trauma induced on military personnel from hand-gun (9mm) and small arms (7.62mm Ball) projectiles. The current Marine Corps requirements for body armor acceptance are based o n a modified National Institute of Justice requirement. Alternative test methodologies, which provide for more accurate and reproducible test measurements are desired along with alternative material designs which increase the survivability of the wearer wh en impacted with high energy projectiles. Contractor will provide all materials required to perform this contract. The quotation will be released on or about February 21st. This will be a best value acquistion. The North American Industry Classificatio n System (NAICS) code is 541710. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code is 8731.
