Description
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport intends to award a sole source contract to Materials Systems, Inc.(MSI) of Littleton, MA for the design, development, manufacturing and testing of a prototype acoustic source/receiver array in accordance with Government Specifications. The required array shall be an enhanced model of an acoustic source/receiver array previously designed, developed and manufactured by MSI. The basis for the sole source is that the transducer and receiver components of the required array are "proprietary" to MSI. Furthermore, MSI has a "patented" manufacturing process, which has been demonstrably proven to greatly reduce the cost of production of the array. The proposed contract is for services/supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or to submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. NAICS: 541330. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form. Instead, they may be accessed at our web site http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/contract/. We also provide electronic access in our Bid Room.
