Description
NA Request non-personal service to provide small tug boat and sufficient operators to assist in the operation of our floating bulkhead gate (FBG). Contractor shall ensure an uninterrupted operation of the FBG for passage of tugs, barges, and other waterborne vessels both upstream and downstream within the navigation channel on a 24-hour a day, seven days a week basis. The tug should be a twin screw with at least 1100 horsepower, USCG certified, self-sufficient and capable of housing the operating crew. If t he tug is not USCG certified we will inspect with a qualified motorboat License Examiner from our Project. Contractor will provide an Activity/Job Hazard Analysis that matches the scope of work to accomplish movement and placement of the FBG. The contrac tor shall also provide a site-specific safety plan that deals with the handling and disposal of spills. The required submittals shall accompany the contractor?s quote for this project. The contractor shall provide own fuel and maintenance necessary to en sure operation. The FBG is a steel frame structure plated with steel sheets and fitted internally with steel cross-walls to form four watertight compartments. The structure is 28 feet high, about 95 feet long and varies in width from 5 to 11 feet. The ?Project? will pro vide the manpower necessary to lash the tug to the FBG and all operations on the FBG. Special Contract Requirements: The contractor shall provide proof of insurance for work of this nature, before mobilizing to job site. Period of Performance: March 1, 2003 to June 30, 2003.
