The services included are: Maintain 5 cages of breeders for each of the indicated mouse strains (789 M2-KO, 790 M4-KO, 1014 M2-WT, 1015 M4-WT, 1033 M2/M4 double KO, 1034 M2/M4 WT, 1042 M3-KO, 1261 M5-KO, 1458 M2/M3 double KO, 1496 M1 KO, 1630 M1/M4 double KO). Tail samples will be taken, to determine whether the mice have the correct genotype. A Statement of Work describing the services in detail will be provided as part of the Request for Quote package. These services are for a Base Year with four (4) Option Years. The Institute intends to obtain this service by other than full and open competition from Taconic Farms. To the best of the Governments knowledge the proposed contractor is the only known source with specific mouse breeding that have mice that are pathogenic free and been deposited and rederived in accordance with NIH Interagency Animal Model Committee and sanctioned for use by NIDDK. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be within the Simplified Acquisition Threshold for Commercial purchases up to 5 million dollars. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-03-885 will be available fifteen (15) days after the release of the RFQ. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is March 21, 2003.
