- Description
- FOR INFORMATION ONLY: The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Health Services Division, is seeking information on entities capable of providing employee health care to its approximately 32,000 employees located throughout the United States in approximately 102 correctional institutions, 6 regional offices, 2 training centers, 3 National Institute of Corrections Offices, and 29 Community Corrections Management Offices. The purpose of this request is to ascertain the availability of vendors to provide identified employee health care services at designated BOP locations and at vendor sites, as well as to collect financial information to assist the BOP with estimating cost. The payment structure will be based on the utilization of a fee for service payment, that will include, but not necessarily limited to the following services: 1. The vendor should have office hours available to provide services during a pre-established time frame that will likely be approximately 0800 through 1700, Monday through Friday excluding specified federal holidays). 2. Pre-Employment Physical Exams will be required and shall be conducted by a licensed and practicing physician. The exam will be inclusive of the following: a. physical and psychological history and physical examination (including but not limited to active and infectious disease and vaccination history, height, weight, vital signs) b. visual acuity test c. color vision testing d. audiogram at 500; 1,000; 2,000; 3,000; 4,000; 6,000; and 8,000 Hertz(hz) frequencies e. tuberculin skin test f. assessment for ability to meet the physical standards requirement 3. Medical Examination for Commercial Drivers License (CDL) will be required to be conducted by a physician and in compliance with 49 CFR 383-391. 4. Medical Examination for Clearance for Special Operations Response Team will be required to be conducted by a physician including, but not limited to, the following: a. history and physical examination (including but not limited to height, weight, and vital signs) b. electrocardiogram (ECG) c. chest x-ray d. audiogram (if one not completed within prior 12 months) e. visual acuity test f. pulmonary function test (spirometry) 5. Fitness for Duty Examinations will be required and will need to be conducted by a licensed, practicing physician. BOP employees who occupy a position with medical standards physical requirements may be required to submit to an examination whenever there is a direct question about the employee's ability to meet the physical or medical requirements of a position. The examination will be conducted in compliance with 5 CFR 339.301. 6. Occupational Exposure to Infectious Disease. Employees of the BOP will be evaluated and treated in compliance with 29 CFR 1910.1030 Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and United States Public Health Service guidelines for occupational exposure to infectious diseases including but not limited to: a. Human Immodeficiency Virus (HIV) b. Hepatitis A (HAV) c. Hepatitis B (HBV) d. Hepatitis C (HCV) e. Tuberculosis (TB) f. Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) g. Scabies h. Varicella (chicken pox) i. Latent Tuberculosis Potential diagnostics and treatment for the above may include but is not limited to: a. hematological testing; i.e., Liver Function Tests, serological testing for diagnosis b. prophylactic medications c. pharmaceutical treatment d. laboratory diagnostics such as microscopic studies; i.e., cultures.
