- The U.S. Customs Service (USCS) has a follow-on requirement for Marine/Vessel Maintenance and related Support Services for its Marine Program on a national basis (the US National Marine Support Center (NMSC) is located in St. Augustine, FL., seven other locations in Florida, Mississippi, California, and Puerto Rico). The requirement is for the repair and maintenance of approximately 100 vessels in the USCS fleet located throughout the U.S. and its territories. The vessels are primarily powered by outboard gasoline engines, inboard/outboard gasoline engines, and inboard diesel engines. The vessels are also outfitted with a variety of equipment including navigational aids and all vessels have communications equipment. The contractor shall be responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs to all vessels and related equipment including installations, maintaining navigational and marine communications equipment in top operation order, effects hull and cosmetic repairs, maintaining auxiliary generators and air conditioning units, hauling and transporting vessels for maintenance, repair and storage, and performing modifications of vessels when needed such as fabrication of radar masts or towers; installation of electrical equipment; painting or gel-coating of vessels; re-powering of vessels; replacement canvas covers and cushions; and lettering and painting. The repairs and maintenance will be performed at Government facilities located throughout the U.S. and its territories. The proposed requirement is for a base period plus four one-year option periods; options will be evaluated and considered at award. The Request for Proposals (RFP) is expected to be released on or about February 28, 2003; proposals will be due 45 days after release of the RFP.
