Description
This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI). This RFI requests information as part of a market survey for Vacuum Furnace, new or refurbished. This RFI/Sources Sought is an attempt to gain preliminary Market Research Information into the availability of a Vacuum Furnace. This is not a request for proposals and in no way obligates the Government to award a contract. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport is seeking information from sources capable of providing a Vacuum Furnace, new or refurbished, in accordance with following specifications: The potential requirement is for a batch type, vacuum heat-treating furnace. The internal temperature must be capable of 2400 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature uniformity must be a plus or minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit. The furnace must be able to obtain a vacuum of 10 to the minus 3 to 10 to the minus 6 torr. Note: Torr is a vacuum measurement. The furnace must be capable of back filling with inert gas. It must be able to go through a cooling cycle fully loaded and be able to go from 1750 degrees Fahrenheit to 1350 degrees Fahrenheit at a minimum of 30 degree Fahrenheit drop per minute. The work zone should be approximately 36 inch by 36 inch by 60 inch. Pyrometrics must meet all specifications listed in AMS 2750. The information collected from this market research effort will be utilized to understand commercial and nondevelopmental items? ability to meet the specified requirements. Desired parameters do not necessarily represent minimum acceptable capabilities. As stated, this announcement is NOT a formal solicitation and is NOT a request for proposal. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government.
