Description
NA The US Army CECOM Research Development and Engineering Center (RDEC) Fort Monmouth, NJ is conducting an industry survey of interested foreign sources, under the Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) Program, to provide Universal Mobile Telephone System (UMTS) compliant standard commercial equipment for technical testing and evaluation in order for the Army to assess the capabilities of this technology and its potential for deployment to Army tactical systems. It is CECOM?s intention to eventually purchase one Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) UMTS Radio Network as one complete UMTS network elements. However, CECOM may only purchase RF transmission capability of the network along with UMTS handsets and then use that capability to connect to an existing commercial core network or possibly as part of a trial commercial network. In either situation, the contractor will have to provide user training, operator manuals/applications, frequency spectrum su pport and professional installation and integration. At this time CECOM RDEC requests that interested sources provide information regarding their UMTS network equipment. This information should include the network elements that comprise a UMTS network to include brochures, pictures and specifications. Also in the event that CECOM cannot fund the procurement of a complete network interested sources should provide information on existing commercial trials of UMTS networks so that CECOM could be a beta test site. This request for information (RFI)/Sources Sought (SS) Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation On the part of the US Army CECOM. The purpose of this RFI/SS is to identify potential foreign sources that may be interested in and capable of performing the work described herein.
