Description: Replace driver tires and trailing truck tires for a steam locomotive. Includes driving box work, journal work, welding, machining, grinding/rolling of journal surfaces. NUMBER OF TIRES: EIGHT (8) NUMBER OF DRIVING BOXES: EIGHT (8) SIZE OF DRIVERS: 63" SIZE OF TRAILING WHEELS: 43" 1. All wheels sets are to be sand blasted. 2. Die check wheels, axels, journals and pins for cracks. 3. Weld cracked spokes on main drivers. 4. Remove Tires from Wheels. 5. Replace main driving axle. 6. Check concentric of all Wheels. 7. Machine as necessary. 8. Check all pins on drivers for out of round condition and flat spots. 9. Quarter crank pins on main drivers, true pins on drivers other than mains. 10. Turn journals as needed for uniform surface. 11. Grind and or roll journals. 12. Bore all driving boxes to fit journals. 13. Re-brass driving boxes as needed to fit machined journals. 14. Install new tires, 15. True up threads and flange on wheel lathe (profile). 16 .Replace both trailing truck tires (only) no other work is to be scheduled for the trailing truck set. ? *American Welding Society ? *Association of American Railroads ? *American Society of Mechanical Engineers ? * Federal Railroad Administration Delivery Completion Date: June 2003 MORE EXACT AND DETAILED INFORMATION AVAILABLE IN THE SCOPE OF WORK, WHICH WILL BE ATTACHED TO THE RFQ.
