- Description
- Drought is historic phenemenon in India. This year's monsoon was weak and erratic, causing severe drought in some regions. Rajasthan was one of the worst affected states, with deficient or scanty rainfalls in all the districts, fourth year in succession. The drought is affecting people severely in several ways. The USAID/OFDA has been funding drought relief programs in Rajasthan since 2000. More than $2 million has been provided to US based Non-Govermental Organizations to administer relief projects. The purpose of this solicitation is to assess the efficacy of the USAID/OFDA drought relief projects and their success in targetting those most in need, and to recommend the best practices/approach for a longer term drought mitigation activities at the community level. Procurement is limited to local Indian Organisations capable of undertaking this appraisal and requisite language skills to interact with project beneficiaries & Government officials.
