Description
The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Armaments Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, 07806-5000, is currently seeking interested sources for Engineering And Manufacturing Services (EMS) in support of the munitions programs in the Artillery and Mortars Division of FSAC. The Government intends to award a Contract to SAVIT Corporation, Parsippany, NJ 07054 on a sole source basis. The EMS effort shall cover all aspects of munitions design and development including formulation of new weapon concepts, preparation of drawings for design and manufacture using Pro/Engineer Computer-Aided Design and Computer- Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) features, quality assurance provisions, tolerance studies, material compatibility studies, metallurgical analysis, functional analysis, fault tree analysis, root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis, interior and exterior ballistic studies, static and dynamic shock and vibration analysis, finite element stress analysis, heat transfer/gas flow analysis, risk analysis, cost analysis, and life-cycle cost estimating; producibility studies emphasizing net shape to minimize cost; rapid prototype manufacture all types of weapon components; high strength parts formed from bar stock, forgings, castings and sintered materials; water jet/laser cut, draw, stamp, and bend sheet stock; metal-inert gas, tungsten-inert gas, friction, electron beam, and laser welding; machine, form and/or mold all plastics; working knowledge of all materials including engineered plastics, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and exotic materials such as tungsten, tantalum, molybdenum, cobalt, etc.; obturator design and manufacture; design and weld copper, nickel, and cast iron overlay projectile rotating bands up to 155mm; tool and gauge design and fabrication; coordinate measurement machine, magnetic particle, ultrasound, x-ray, and computed tomography inspection processes; finishing, packaging and marking; circuit design and fabrication of electronic assemblies and test equipment; support static and flight tests at government facilities, including preparation of instrumentation and evaluation of test results; blue and red team technical support. Estimated issue date of the solicitation is January 2003.
