Description
The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health has a requirement for a contract to provide laundry processing and tailoring services which consists of more than 50 buildings on a 300 acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland including the Clinical Center. In addition, the contractor must furnish laundry services for off campus facilities to include Animal Center in Poolesville, Maryland; and programs at The National Naval Hospital; The Children's Inn at NIH; The New Mark O Hatfield Clinical Research Center; The New Family Inn to open in the latter 2003; rental facilities in Bethesda, Baltimore, Gaithersburg, and Rockville, Maryland. Specifically, the NIH has a requirement for a contractor to operate a laundry for a 350 bed hospital devoted solely to research. The laundry will support all patient care, animal care, laboratory and service functions at NIH. The estimated annual total is over 1.5 million pounds to process. The estimated quantities include the following: (1) Bulk Linen 276,670 lbs; Animal Linen- 55,480 lbs; Children's Inn Linen -643,860 lbs; pickup and delivery- 52 weeks; dyeing of towels- 30,660 lbs; mark & stencil linen -18,980 ea; lab coats- 238,160 ea; uniform shirts -203,840 ea; uniform pants -204,880 ea; Light Jackets -20,800 ea; coverall- 52,560 ea; smocks- 4,992 ea; parkas -11,680 ea; jacket liners- 11,680 ea; dresses -17,264 ea; surgical gowns -13,520 ea; special orders & linen bags- 93,600 ea; Mark & Stencil Uniforms -57,200 ea; Tailoring Services -52 weeks; and Inventory Services -52 weeks. The performance period is anticipated to be for (1) One Base Year, with (4) Four consecutive (12) month option periods. In addition the contractor will provide these services, (365) three hundred and sixty-five days per year which includes Federal Holidays and inclement weather. The solicitation for this requirement will be available on or about March 18, 2003 with a closing date approximately 30 days after issuance. The standard North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 812332. This is a unrestricted Full and Open Competition procurement. All responsible offerors may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. Requests for solicitation must be submitted in writing via mail, fax, or email. No telephone requests will be accepted.
