- SPAWARSYSCEN Charleston intends to issue a competitive procurement for Multi-function check source kits. The source kit must contain the following three sources and the total strength must not exceed 10 uCi: Source A: Alpha source, for testing alpha sensitive detectors. Throium-230 shall be electroplated on a 0.031-inch thick stainless steel plate. Radioactive area shall be 10 cm x 10 cm centered on a flat 11 cm x 11 cm plate. Corners of plate shall have a 1/16-inch radius. Total 4 Pi alpha disintegration rate shall be 20.0 nanocuries. Uniformity of activity to be within plus or minus 155 of the mean activity of the entire area. To be certified as a calibration standard must be an Alpha source. This source is located in the left side of the case behind a 4-inch x 4-inch square opening. Source B: Beta source for testing beta sensitive detectors, Technetium-99 shall be electroplated on a 0.031-inch thick stainless steel plate. Radioactive area shall be 44-mm diameter centered on a 47-mm diameter disk. Total 4 Pi beta disintegration rate to be 450 picocuries. To be certified as a calibration standard must be a Beta source. This source is located in the right side of the case behind a 1 3.4 inch diameter opening. Source C: Gamma-beta source for testing gamma and beta sensitive detectors. Cesium-137 shall be contained in a 1-inch diameter x 0.120-inch thick plastic or aluminum holder. Radioactive area shall be less than 0.25-inch diameter centered in the holder and covered with 2.4-mg/sq. cm titanium window. Total 4 Pi gamma disintegration rate shall be 8 + 10% microcuries. To be certified as a calibration standard must be a Gamma-beta source. This source is located in the hinged lid of the case behind a 1/4-inch diameter opening. Solicitation N65236-02-R-0094 will be issued under full and open competitive procedures. The applicable NAICS code is 334519 with a size standard of 500 employees. An Indefinite-delivery, Indefinite-quantity, Firm-Fixed-Price type contract, with delivery orders is anticipated. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of the solicitation and any amendments (if issued) and/or update to any and all related documents.
