- Description
- It is the intent of National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure on a sole source basis from Netosh A. Jones for archival processing services for the History of Medicine Division manuscript collections. The purchase order term will be April 14, 2003 through May 31, 2004. This project requires several levels of archival expertise for processing unique archival materials. These skills relate to physical and intellectual processing such as collection appraisal, processing, re-housing, and finding aid creation. The final products will include fully processed collections as defined by Archives and Modern Manuscripts (AMMP) policy, to wit: item-level processing, arrangement and description; removal of corrosive fasteners; performing needed preservation actions; re-housing items into proper archival enclosures; description of collections' physical and intellectual contents according to AMMP's finding aid creation procedures. Netosh A. Jones is an experienced archivist with a masters degree and is a Ph.D. candidate at Temple University. As part of her graduate education at Temple she has completed core coursework in archives administration. She possesses over two (2) years of professional archival experience, working as a processing archivist for the CIGNA Corporation, the National Archives and Records Administration, the American Philosophical Society, and the Hagley Museum. In these positions she processed archival materials similar to the ones projected for inclusion in this project and demonstrated the ability to create finding aids according to established archival standards. She has demonstrated experience in arranging and describing archival collections and a record of timely compliance with reporting requirements and provides written documentation of current processing and evaluation procedures. Her skill level is appropriate for the work described and can provide the services needed at a reasonable rate in accordance with the funds obligated. She comes highly recommended by her former supervisors and professional peers. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 - Simplified Acquisitions.
