- NA DESC: The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential contractors for the Development Program to Broaden and Strengthen Current Unique Domestic X-ray Detector Manufacturing Capabilities from cadmium zinc telluride (CZT). The Army has developed and is continuing to develop advanced x-ray radiographic and tomographic systems using a new patented x-ray radiography-tomography technology utilizing photonic energy discrimination. Although these digital x- ray imaging systems are superior to other digital x-ray imaging systems, full implementation and production has been stymied by the low production yield of CZT detector arrays having photonic throughput greater than one million photons per second per pixel and array size greater than one centimeter by one centimeter by three millimeter. TACOM-ARDEC hereby requests that any firm, which both manufactures the CZT crystals and manufactures the pixilated arrays from the crystals and is capable of performing research, development, and implementation to improve their manufacturing yield up to one hundred square centimeters of tested high quality pixilated material per week during the first year, provide a Statement of Capability and supporting rationale to Mr. Stephen A. Ernyey at area code (973) 724-3456 so that it may be properly evaluated prior to synopsis and solicitation of the requirement. In addition, please provide the company?s name, address, and point of contact with telephone number and email address, size of business (small/large) and country represented. It is currently the intention of TACOM-ARDEC to issue a sole-source award to II- VI Inc., 375 Saxonburg Blvd., Saxonburg, PA 16056. This is a market survey for information only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the US Government. The US Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited.
