Description
NA This project includes a 6000 acre-feet above-ground water storage reservoir and adjacent water treatment area, created by levee construction, along Ten Mile Creek, southwest of Ft. Pierce in St. Lucie County, Florida. Hydraulic control structures will con trol intake and discharge from both the reservoir and water treatment area. Water levels in Ten Mile Creek, the reservoir and the treatment area will collectively dictate operation of the control structures. The project objectives is to attenuate seasona l (summer) stormwater flows from the Ten Mile Creek Basin into the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. By capturing freshwater from Ten Mile Creek and storing it during the rainy season, the project will help control the amount of freshwater and sediment entering the St. Lucie River Estuary and Indian River Lagoon. Stored water will be released back into Ten Mile Creek during the dry season or as required to optimize benefit. The project includes a 380 cfs capacity pumping station and appurtenant structu res, a 40 cfs auxiliary pumping station, an outlet culvert, and an emergency overflow spillway. OPTIONAL BID ITEM A will add a 12-foot wide inspection road, approximately 24,800 feet in length, along the exterior toe of the levee system. Equipment neede d will consist of the following: Cranes (truck or track), bulldozers, backhoes, earth graders, roller compactors, dump trucks, concrete trucks, utility trucks, water pumps, well-point systems, pile driving equipment, and generators.
