40th SPACE CONGRESS SET FOR APRIL 28 - MAY 2, 2003 Annual event will celebrate the theme "Linking the Past to the Future" and recognize NASA's 40th anniversary. The 40th Annual Space Congress is set for April 28 - May 2, 2003 at the Radisson Resort in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This annual event provides a forum for space professionals to meet and share their knowledge of technical areas and issues facing the space program and will host four days of technical paper and panel sessions, exhibits, Youth Science Fair, Evening with the Astronauts and Black Tie GALA. Under the theme "Linking the Past to the Future - a Celebration of Space," the Congress will include notable speakers Dr. Shannon Lucid, NASA Chief Scientist; Nobel Laureate in Astronomy Dr. Riccardo Giacconi; Orlando Figueroa, NASA Mars Exploration Program and General Lance Lord, Commander USAF Space Command. This year's Space Congress will not only celebrate the rich history of the space program and mark several milestones (Kennedy Space Center's 40th anniversary, the 100th year of Flight and the 40th year of Space Congress) but also examine current Mars research and the upcoming Mars launch, discuss the International Space Station successes and future endeavors, as well as look at how the combined efforts of the scientific, commercial, military, and educational communities contribute to the growth of the space program and the positive benefits it generates. The General Chair for the 40th Space Congress is Kevin Hoshstrasser, Florida Operations Site Director of Engineering for The Boeing Company. "This is an exciting year for Space Congress as we celebrate several significant milestones," comments Hoshstrasser. "The topics to be addressed by this year's Congress will provide broad insight into government and civilian space initiatives, new technologies, and serve as the forum for professionals to share technical developments as well as discuss issues from a global perspective that face the space community at large." To register to attend, visit www.spacecongress.org, or call 321-452-3068. Exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities available; call 321-383-2840 or 321-724-1688. About Space Congress: The Canaveral Council of Technical Societies (CCTS) created Space Congress in 1962 to stimulate interest and promote professionalism in the space program. Space Congress is organized in cooperation with NASA, the Department of Defense, industry and academia. The annual event provides a forum for space professionals to meet and share their knowledge of technical areas and issues facing the space program. CCTS uses Space Congress proceeds to present annual achievement and technical awards, conduct an annual Career Night to expose local students to scientific, engineering and related careers, and to sponsor or support many local educational programs offered by schools and groups in the Space Coast area.
