Description
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command intends to procure Side Connectors for the Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS). The contract will require the development of production drawings from Government design drawings, all necessary labor, material, facilities and equipment to fabricate, First Article Test and evaluate one prototype side connector. Upon successful completion of the First Article Test, the government may exercise up to five (5) options periods for the fabrication and delivery of approximately 146 side connectors. The Side Connector is a major component of the INLS and is a hydraulically operated device that will be used for side-to-side connectivity with the INLS Combination Module (CM). Each CM is designed to accept Four (4) Side Connectors per side to achieve various system platform configuratoin, i.e. the Roll-On Roll-Off Discharge Facility (RRDF) and the Floating Causeway (FC). The solicitation will be released as unrestricted and the intention is to award a firm-fixed price contract utilizing Source Selection Procedures. The anticipated award is scheduled to take place during the third quarter of Fiscal Year (FY) 2003. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 333999 which is a size standard of 500 employees. The solicitation will be available for viewing and downloading on the World Wide Web address: http://esol.navfac.navy.mil on or about March 28, 2003. Potential offerors will be responsible for downloading a copy of the solicitation and for monitoring the site for any amendments. All technical and contractual inquiries must be submitted in writing to the contract specialist via email at HughesSK@navfac.navy.mil. Telephone inquiries are prohibited. The successful offeror must be registered in the Department of Defense Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Database.
