- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst intends to issue a request for proposal for a single source to integrate and provide, as part of a powder coating application facility at NAS Point Mugu, CA; one gas-fired, industrial batch style curing oven, one industrial powder coating spray booth, and one gas-fired industrial style burn-off oven. This RFP will be issued as a 100% small business set-aside competitive procurement. The building this equipment is to be housed in is limited in both width and height, and the ceiling grid-work demands that equipment be custom designed to fit within the allocated spaces. A site visit will be arranged to allow all offerors to scope the work required. It is strongly encouraged that all prospective bidders attend as it will be very difficult to adequately propose equipment without seeing the worksite first hand. Specifically, the curing oven shall be designed for an operating temperature of 130 to 500oF for the curing of powder coatings applied to equipment. Oven shall be designed to comply with either the overall dimensions of configuration (a), maximum 14' w x 24' d x 12' h; or the overall dimensions of configuration (b), maximum 14' w x 19' 6" d x 13' 6" h. If configuration (a) is chosen for the curing oven, configuration (b) must be chosen for the spray booth, and vice versa. Oven shall operate on 460 V, 60 Hz, 3 phase power and a natural gas supply requirement of <1200 CFH service at 8? WCP at burner. Specifically, the spray booth shall be designed to comply with either the overall dimensions of configuration (a), maximum 14' w x 24' d x 12' h; or the overall dimensions of configuration (b), maximum 14' w x 19' 6" d x 13' 6" h. If configuration (a) is chosen for the spray booth, configuration (b) must be chosen for the curing oven, and vice versa. Spray booth shall operate on 460 V, 60 Hz, 3 phase power and 60-100 psi compressed air requirement. Specifically, the burn off oven shall be designed to operate at a maximum temperature of 800F with a minimum afterburner temperature of 1400F in order to remove cured powder coatings. Approximate exterior dimensions are required to not exceed 15' w x 21' d x 12' h. Burn off oven shall operate on 460 V, 60 Hz, 3 phase power and on a natural gas supply requirement of <1 mil BTU/hr. In addition to other relevant codes, the ovens shall be in conformance with National Fire Protection Association Bulletin #86 for Class ?A? ovens. In addition to other relevant codes, the spray booth shall be in conformance with National Fire Protection Association Standard No. 33. Installation, Start-up, training, and submission of logistical support data will also be required as part of the contract. This requirement shall be fulfilled by supplying ?commercial items? as defined in Section 2.101 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation). The estimated Issue Date for the RFP is 10 April 2003. This RFP will be posted on the NAVAIR web site at www.navair.navy.mil.
