- Description
- The U.S. Army, Office of the Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is seeking sources for the manufacture and delivery of 5.56mm, M995 Armor Piercing Cartridges and 7.62mm, M993 Armor Piercing Cartridges. Both of these cartridges provide enhanced penetration capabilities against lightly armored vehicles and fortifications as compared to the standard 5.56mm, M855 and 7.62mm, M80 service ball cartridges. The 5.56mm, M995 will be used in the M16 rifle, the M4 carbine and the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon. The 7.62mm, M993 will be used in the M240 and M60 Machine Guns and the M24 Sniper Rifle. The basic contract is planned for award in FY03 with a quantity of 880K 7.62mm M993 Cartridge with options up to 184.3K for 5.56mm and up to 110.5K for 7.62mm. The contract is expected to include four option years (FY04-FY07) with a maximum total quantity amount of 4.35M 5.56mm, M993 Cartridges and 4.3M 7.62mm, M995 Cartridges. Quantities are estimates only. Delivery will be required within 180 days from contract award or 120 days from exercise of option. The M993 and M995 Cartridges will be procured to a performance specification. All responsible interested sources are encouraged to submit their capabilities/qualification data in regard to the above no later than 14 days of this notice to Commander, U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA-AQ-APD, MaryAnn Moreau, Bldg. 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. Please include company name, address, telephone number, and technical point of contact, brochures/literature. Firms interested in this acquisition should adequately describe their experience in small caliber production and testing, systems contracting, demonstrated high rate production, annual production capacity, and status of their proposed design. Sources who are interested in submitting a proposal will be responsible to verify their round at their own expense in order to be considered for award. See Note 25. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. Please be advised that the Government will not pay for any information submitted under this announcement.
