- Medical Supplies - Potential Sources Sought Military Hospitals - (Army, Navy, Air Force) TRICARE Regions 9 and 10 Blood Collection Tubes - Standardization Point of Contact: Cindy Ingrao, Clinical Consultant, Tri-Service Regional Business Office, TRICARE Regions 9 & 10, San Diego, CA. Telephone: (619) 532-8517. Potential sources sought to participate in the regional standardization of Blood Collection Tubes. TRICARE Regions 9 and 10, a military integrated delivery network (IDN), comprised of Army, Navy and Air Force medical treatment centers in California are in the process of standardizing Blood Collection Tubes. If your company currently holds or in the process of obtaining a Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) with the Defense Supply Center-Philadelphia (DSCP) for Blood Collection Tubes, your company is eligible to participate in the standardization process. Please respond by Email: cingrao@reg9.med.navy.mil and provide your company name, address, point of contact, telephone, fax and E-mail address and answers to the below listed questions no later than April 1, 2003. For questions, please call (619) 532-8517. 1. Does your company have a full line of blood collection tubes for use in the adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations? If so, what sizes does your company offer? Do they include bullet tubes? 2. Are your products available through Prime Vendor? 3. Under what brand does your Company manufacture or distribute your products? 4. Are your blood collection tubes FDA approved for use in all laboratory testing? 5. Are your blood collection tubes made from material that allows an undistorted view of the contents, has sufficient strength for normal use, and capable of retaining a vacuum for a shelf life of no less than one year? 6. Are your blood tubes made of plastic or a shatterproof material? 7. Are your blood collection tubes made from materials or contain materials, lubricants, coating, or additives that do not adversely influence the results obtained when the container is used as intended? 8. Do your blood collection tubes provide a closed system for needle puncture and reseal? 9. Are your blood collection tubes capable of withstanding an acceleration of 2200 relative centrifugal force (RCF) when they contain a specimen? 10. Do your blood collection tubes contain a closure that can be removed by gripping with fingers or by mechanical extractors? 11. Do your blood collection tubes have markings that identify the product as shown on the package label? 12. Do your blood collection tubes have a surface that can be marked with a ballpoint pen for patient identification information? 13. Are your blood tubes compatible with the Beckman-Coulter Gen-S, Bayer Centaur, Bayer ACS-180, Beckman-Coulter LX20, and the Dade-Behring Sysmex 1500? 14. Do your coagulation tubes contain 3.2% sodium citrate? 15. Do your hematology tubes contain K3 EDTA? 16. What types of educational tools or materials do you have for this product line? 17. Is there any history of backorders and/or recalls for this product group? If yes, please answer: a. Dates and duration b. Cause c.
