- Description
- The U. S. Department of Commerce, Hollings Marine Laboratory, intends to purchase one 800 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) system and one additional NMR system (600 MHz or 700 MHz) for operation at the Hollings Marine Laboratory in Charleston, South Carolina. These instruments will be used primarily for biomolecular research, and for other research in the areas of marine natural products, environmental chemistry, and homeland defense issues. A new facility is being designed and constructed with an anticipated occupation date of November 2004. At least one 800 MHz NMR instrument will be purchased and depending on pricing and value, a 600 MHz or a 700 MHz shielded magnet system will be procured. The 800 MHz system must meet the following specifications: Base 1.0 NMR system for biomolecular structure and dynamics research, Including, (1) Magnet: Vibration isolation system; Magnet control system; and Service platform. (2) 5 Channel console, expandable to 8 or more channels: Triple axis gradient system; Sample temperature control; Shim and lock system; Power Amplifier Array; Receiver system; Preamplifiers; Pulse sequence controller; Frequency synthesizers and RF electronics (low level); and Signal/power routers. (3) Data and control station: Unix based operating system; data storage (> 500 GB); Data archiving (removable media); Operating software; Data processing software; and Printing and plotting capabilities. (4) Probes: Inverse triple resonance, triple gradient probe (also observe and decouple 2H); Inverse triple resonance cryogenic, gradient probe (also observe and decouple 2 H); Additional specialty gradient probe (non-cryogenic), to be determined. (5) Warranty: Magnet warranty; Console warranty; Data station warranty; Probe(s) warranty. (6) Training: Operator training, on-site; Application training, on-site; Classroom training, vendor site. One or more of the following options may be selected depending on pricing and value: Option 1.1 - Shielded magnet - Self-shielded 800 MHz magnet, instead of magnet in base system; Option 1.2 - Data stations - Up to 10 independent, identically equipped data stations; Option 1.3 - Extended warranty on magnet - Price for annual increments of magnet warranty - Up to 10 years of additional warranty; Option 1.4 - Extended warranty on electronics - Price for annual increments of console and auxiliary systems warranty; Option 1.5 - Inverse triple resonance cryogenic, gradient probe (also observe and decouple 2H); Option 1.6 - Inverse triple resonance cryogenic, gradient probe (also observe and decouple 2 H); Option 1.7 - Test Equipment - High frequency digital phosphor oscilloscope. Similar specification requirements will be made for the Base 2.0 600 MHz or 700 MHz shielded magnet Nuclear Magnetic Resonance equipment that is to be configured to be identical in functionality to the 800 MHz system. One or more of the following options may be selected depending on pricing and value: Option 2.1 ? Inverse triple resonance, triple gradient probe (also observe and decouple 2H.); Option 2.2 ? Additional specialty gradient probe (non-cryogenic), to be determined; Option 2.3 ? Capillary flow NMR system; Option 2.4 ? HPLC NMR System; Option 2.5 ? Alternative lock nucleus - Fluorine lock channel; Option 2.6 ? Site-specific Natural Isotope Fractionation NMR Accessory; Option 2.7 ? Imaging Accessory; Option 2.8 ? Magic angle spinning probe for semi-solid samples; Option 2.9 ? Automated sample changer. NAICS code 423490 applies. Interested firms should submit in writing its name, address, point of contact, telephone number, and a brief statement regarding its capability to provide the specified equipment within fifteen calendar days of the date of this notice. Also, include the name, telephone number and point of contact for businesses or other Government agencies to which it has previously provided these items. The information should be submitted to the address stated herein or may be faxed to (816) 426-7530, attn: Mamie L. Wandick. This is not a request for proposal and there is no solicitation available at this time. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed acquisition is solely within the discretion of the Government.
