Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Coastal Services Center, Charleston, SC has a requirement for a contractor to provide a workshop and report that describes how coastal managers can make use of climatological data, tools, and information. NOAA will use this needs assessment to further develop a national series of coastal climatologies with each element of that series focusing upon a specific region. These climatologies will build upon traditional meteorological and terrestrial climatologies (e.g., winds, precipitation, temperature, soil moisture, river flows), add marine parameters (e.g., sea surface temperature, chlorophyll concentration, salinity, dissolved oxygen), and lead to products that will be used by state and local managers who are faced with decisions that have climate-related components. The products described in the statement of work will be used to develop a coastal climatology of the southeastern United States. The workshop shall be held in the southeastern United States but the contractor may determine the exact location. The report shall describe potential uses of coastal climatology that will be used to guide development of data, tools, and applications of coastal climatology in the southeastern United States. Any party interested in receiving a copy of the solicitation shall provide written notice to the Contracting Office. The solicitation document will be issued on or about April 8, 2003. Fax requests to (757) 441-3786. Telephone requests will not be accepted. No contract award will be made on the basis of proposals received in response to this notice since this synopsis cannot be considered a Request for Proposal. All responses from responsible sources will be considered. This is a simplified acquisition with a value of less than $100,000.
