- Description
- NASA/LaRC plans to issue an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for Construction of replacement 750 KVA Unit Substation for Building 1208, West Area, Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA. The work to be performed includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Removal of the 750 KVA transformer: disconnect and remove fuses from existing primary switch, switch to remain for reuse; remove underground primary feeder cable, existing conduit shall be sealed and abandoned-in-place; and disconnect and remove 750 KVA outdoor substation No. 2 transformer and associated air terminal box. 2. Removal of the 480 volt switchgear: disconnect and remove 480 volt outdoor switchgear and asociated equipment. 3. Replacement Transformer and Switchgear: provide new primary fuses, sized to protect new transformer; provide new feeder cable and conduit to serve new transformer; provide 1000 KVA transformer with primary air terminal and complete accessories; provide 480 volt switchgear and complete accessories as indicated on contract drawings and specifications. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000, and the effort shall be completed within 360 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is full and open competition and is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The NAICS Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 238210 and $12.0 Million, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about April 14, 2003 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about May 14, 2003. The firm date for receipt of bids or proposals will be stated in the IFB. Drawings will be available from the Bid Distribution Office at 757-864-2547. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement [with the exception of the specifications and drawings] will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
