In order to provide industry with appropriate documents for future pro= posal submittals, the FAA plans to release to industry a draft requirements= document and statement of work to solicit comments and recommendations fro= m industry. The FAA plans to release this request for comments and recomme= ndations within the next 30-60 days. =20 This announcement is intended to alert you to watch for this FAA draft for = industry comments. FAADDS will provide rapid retrieval and di= splay of a wide range of weather, operational support, and administrative d= ata to air traffic controllers in Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCTs) and Te= rminal Radar Approach Controls (TRACONS), as well as in other FAA and non-F= AA facilities. Information will be displayed in formats and with contents = designed for rapid operator understanding and assimilation with minimum hum= an interaction. The system will interface with a large number of FAA syste= ms to receive information for display. Information displayed will be ident= ical in content and format to the source document or display. =20 The system will be comprised of workstations networked together in local ar= ea networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) to provide shared informat= ion management and display. =20 The system will be scalable in order to meet the information display needs = of the full spectrum of facilities from very large to small terminal areas.= The system will be comprised of commercial off-the shelf (COTS) and non-d= evelopmental item (NDI) hardware and software to facilitate configuration c= ontrol, maintenance, training, and system upgrade by Government personnel. = The Government intends to procure data rights necessary for itself or thir= d parties to maintain and enhance the software. =20
