- Description
- The purpose of this Solicitation is for Site Preparation and fuels reduction in the Mt. Hood National Forest, Clackamas River Ranger District. Site Preparation. - This portion of the Solicitation requires services for grapple piling of logging slash and the uprooting and piling live vegetative material with a LIFT AND PILE mechanism -grapple excavator, rather than a PUSH AND PILE mechanism- tractor with a blade. Work to be performed on slopes up to 30 percent. The objective is to create planting sites, eliminate vegetative competition, and reduce the slash layer to a depth of 2-6 inches. Logs greater than 14-inch in diameter will be left in place. Fuels Reduction. - This portion of the Solicitation requires services for grapple piling of logging slash with a LIFT AND PILE mechanism- grapple excavator, rather than a PUSH AND PILE mechanism- tractor and blade. Work to be performed on slopes up to 30 percent. The objective is to reduce the fuel loading that remains following commercial thinning. Logs greater than 10-inch diameter on the small end will be left in place. Documents will be available at this site only on or about March 20, 2003.
