The purpose of this announcement is to survey industry for information regarding the 'state of the art' in navigation devices and where the evolution of these devices is headed. Specifically the Government is intere sted in identifying when low-cost (less than $10,000 per system) inertial navigation systems will be available for precision navigation and far target location capable of bias stabilities of .01-.1 degrees per hour. Please identify any barriers to achievi ng low cost navigation devices (i.e., manufacturing technology, lack of commercial application, investment, etc). What low-cost system accuracies can be expected in the 2008 through 2012 timeframes? If these devices can be accelerated, when can they be a vailable and at what investment? This is a sources sought requesting information only. No solicitation will be issued against this notice. SOLICITATION NUMBER DAAB07-03-R-P027 IS ASSIGNED FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY. This sources sought is also issued IAW the requirements of FAR Part 10 to determine the applicability of FAR Part 12, 'Acquisition of Commercial Items.' Interested sources with experience in inertial navigation systems should provide supporting documentation to: Mr. Al Sova, PM Navigation Systems, ATTN: SFAE-IEW&S-NS, Building 563, Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703. Mr. Sova can be reached at (732) 427-5550. Thi s announcement is to assess interest only. An opportunity exists to shape the direction of navigation for the interim and objective forces.
